New PhotoBlog!! Ver. 2.0, Part Deux, and Redux

Welcome to Jeff’s photoblog grand re-opening!! Against the far wall you can find refreshments and a tray of meats wrapped in dough. Name tags are by the door as you enter. Ok, mingle!!

Here’s what’s new…

  • New title which more accurately describes what I’m doing here.
  • I will be posting periodically, not every day as before. That was tedious and stressful.
  • I chose to stick with WordPress for this blog because I’m attached to it. It’s my buddy. I did tweak the format a bit so I can post larger photos in a more “photobloggy” kind of way.
  • It now ties in better with Jeff Hatfield Photography.
  • And various other changes beneath the hood. Well, not really; I just like saying something is different “underneath the hood” because it really carries a lot of weight and gives me some much needed credibility.

A bit about the photo above…. This is composite of three separate images of incense smoke which I photographed a couple weeks ago. I had been eager to play with smoke for a while and finally got around to setting up the shot. The setup is simple… with only one mono-light with a green gel positioned behind and below the smoke. To the right is another light with a blue gel. Of course the room has to be dark and without ventilation because I found the even moving around behind the camera would disrupt the smoke. The most difficult part was finding incense that wasn’t part of a 2 for 1 deal with a 3ft plexiglass bong. Also, I’m not a fan of the smell… of incense.

  1. Hey Jeff…. Great shot! I purchased some incense a couple of weeks ago with the same thought of trying out some shots! What a coiincidence! I haven’t gotten around to it, as we are still unpacking and painting walls and “stuff”. So, be on the look out. I may have some cool smoke shots one of these days!

Great picture, Jeff. I hate the smell of incense, too. Only thing worse is patchula oil. LDH
